High Volume, “Pure” Fat Harvesting

Up to 2000cc of pure, “yellow” fat and higher percentage of viable cells for facial, pectoral, breast and buttock enhancement surgeries
The AquaVage from M.D. Resource is the first volume (up to 2000cc) fat harvesting device that meets the needs of the surgeon performing high volume autologous fat transfer for full body sculpturing, enhancement of male pectorals, rejuvenation of the face, enhancement of the shape and form of the buttocks, and as an alternative to silicon breast implants.
The AquaVage is a FDA-cleared fat harvesting device that processes autologous fat to produce viable, undamaged “yellow” product that can be re-introduced into other areas of the body during cosmetic surgery. The self-contained AquaVage system is sterile from harvesting through re-injection into the body and can save the surgeon considerable time in the O.R. by speeding processing time.
During autologous fat implants, fat is removed through liposuction from a fat-rich part of the body, such as the thighs or abdomen. Then the fat is cleaned and excess fluid removed before it is re-injected into the area to be treated. However, this processing of the harvested fat has traditionally been rough, causing significant lipocyte trauma that renders the fat cells useless for implantation.
To compensate for the high lipocyte trauma rate, surgeons typically inject an additional 30% extra harvested fat into the treated area since damaged cells are resorbed by the body. This overcorrection is responsible for the “overfilled” look immediately after surgery.
The AquaVage reduces lipocyte trauma through its unique design and gentle processing to produce a more pure product – yellow in color – with a higher percentage of viable cells for re-injection. With more viable cells by percentage, the need for overfilling – at least to some degree – is obviated.
The alternative to a high volume device has typically involved “low volume” harvesting options that can only handle volumes of less than 200cc, which includes a substantial percentage of non-viable cells. Meeting the high volume requirements of pectoral, breast and buttock fat transfer with a low volume device is a difficult, tedious and time consuming process that can often take many hours.
A high volume harvester such as the AquaVage, on the other hand, can harvest up to 2000cc in less than half an hour, often concurrently with liposuction to dramatically reduce time in surgery.
Cosmetic surgery is not the only application for high volume fat harvesting. Fat cells are an abundant and readily accessible source of stem cells.
